The MG Nest is a buildable stationary machine gun that fires .50 cal tracer rounds. It is built with a Large Hammer from 650 Build Supplies. Its weapon is the only stationary gun that uses the .50 cal round, and it is restocked in batches of 60 rounds.
Overview
The MG Nest starts with 60 rounds and is restocked with Ammo Supplies. A restock takes 200 Ammo Supplies and gives 60 rounds. The gun fires 600 rounds/min out to 1,000 m. The weapon does not set a rate, so 600 rounds/min is the game’s default.
Effects
Weapon
The gun fires 600 rounds/min out to an effective range of 1,000 m. It holds 60 rounds and reloads in 8.0 s. The rate is not set on the weapon, so 600 rounds/min is the game’s default rate. The weapon data carries the same lock-on setup as the other stationary guns: a 2.0 s lock, a 0.5 s delay after the lock, and a target list of air vehicles only (the Little Bird family, the Havoc, the Huey and the fixed-wing airplane), with fire allowed only while locked on. It is not known how a gun that a player operates uses it.
Health
The finished MG Nest has 1,800 HP. Shots hit the gun as a vehicle, and its vehicle damage table gives it a pool of 1,800 HP. The Buildables data gives 3,000 HP to the build plot, the structure that exists while the gun is being built. So 3,000 is the health of the plot under construction, and 1,800 is the health of the finished gun. One small caveat: the step that carries the plot’s health over to the finished gun was not fully read, so that link is not confirmed. The vehicle damage page explains how the damage table works.
Use and timing
The MG Nest uses the same placement rules as the other stationary weapons: it is built with a Large Hammer, and its placement conditions check the Forward Operating Base bounds, a ladder check (not within 1 m of a ladder) and a safe zone check (not within 3 m of a safe zone or while standing in one). The Building page describes these rules.
Destroying it
The MG Nest has 1,800 HP. Explosives that burst within their inner radius take this many hits to destroy it: MAAWS 18, RPG-7 17, IED 6, C4 8, M67 frag 18. The counts are worked out from the damage rules, not timed in play, and assume full health with no repair. See the Anti-Vehicle Guide.
