Choosing Attachments
Attachments change a weapon’s numbers while they are fitted. Most of the change is in recoil, spread, aim time (how long the weapon takes to come up to aim), equip speed and sway. Muzzle devices and suppressors also change the muzzle flash. Magazines change aim time, recoil, equip speed and sway, and their size comes from their name.
This guide picks the best part for each job from the stat values on the attachment pages. Changes are shown as multipliers, written with an x. For recoil and spread, lower is better. For aim time, a value below 1 is faster and a value above 1 is slower.
What attachments change
- Recoil: how far the view kicks up and sideways after each shot. Muzzle devices, foregrips, bipods and magazines change it.
- Spread: how far each shot can land from the aim point. Muzzle devices, foregrips and the Grip Pod change it. Recoil moves the aim point but does not widen the spread.
- Handling: aim time, equip speed and character sway. Sights, magazines and foregrips change these.
- Flash: muzzle devices and suppressors. The muzzle flash page gives the cuts as a range. The first-person flash drops to x0.3 to x0.7, the flash other players see drops to x0.5 to x0.7, and the distant flash drops to x0.75 to x0.85. The game does not say which device uses which cut, so the cuts are not given device by device.
- Magazine size: set by the magazine’s name. “30 RND” is 30 rounds.
Magazines
The game gives 46 of the 69 magazines aim time, recoil, equip speed and aim sway multipliers, but the magazine page shows only 27 of them with a value other than x1. The other 42 change nothing you can feel.
- Least recoil and aim time: the Super-45 13 RND Magazine (30) gives aim time x0.83, vertical and horizontal recoil x0.83 each, and aim sway x0.77. Its equip speed is x1.21, the highest of the priced magazines. The AMP-9 15 RND Magazine (30) has the same recoil values, with aim time x0.86.
- Worst values: the largest magazines. The AK74 75 RND Drum Magazine has aim time x1.26 and vertical recoil x1.22. It has no shop price. The Super-45 40 RND Drum Magazine (280) has aim time x1.2 and vertical recoil x1.2.
- The magazine page reads a higher equip speed value as a faster equip. It takes that from the stat name, and the game gives no plain description.
- Price range: 10 to 280. 33 of the 69 magazines have a shop price.
For most weapons, the bigger the magazine, the more it raises aim time and recoil.
Muzzle devices
Muzzle devices change vertical and horizontal recoil, spread and aim time. The ranges are x0.74 to x1.02 for vertical recoil, x0.78 to x1.05 for horizontal recoil, x0.88 to x1 for spread and x0.97 to x1.15 for aim time.
- Least vertical recoil: the Orpheus Max Brake, x0.74 (980). It fits the M249 SAW and the PKM. Its horizontal recoil is x0.9 and its aim time is x1.07.
- Least horizontal recoil: the Hexagon Brake, x0.78 (350). It fits the Galil, M4 and T-21. Its vertical recoil is x0.99.
- Least spread: the RC-556 Suppressor, x0.88 (1,310), tied with the .30 Cal SS Phosphate Muzzle Brake, x0.88 (950, M14 only). The RC-556 fits the Galil, M249 SAW, M4 and T-21. Its aim time is x1.12.
- Quickest aim: the .30 Cal Steel Black Flash Hider, aim time x0.97 (730). It fits the M14, and its only stat change is aim time.
- Shotgun chokes (M500): the Improved Cylinder Choke (540) narrows the outer edge of the pellet pattern from 1.56 to 1.36 degrees, and about 26 percent of pellets land in the tight inner cluster. The Full Choke (1,150) narrows the edge to 0.95 degrees, and 34 percent of pellets land in the inner cluster. Both add aim time x1.02.
- Brakes, chokes and suppressors with a stat change add aim time, from x1.02 to x1.15. Only the flash hiders cut aim time, to x0.97 or x0.98. A recoil pick usually costs some aim time.
- 54 of the 56 muzzle devices change weapon numbers. The Deadeye Flash Hider is not one of them: its multipliers are all 1, even though its shop text promises faster aiming.
- Price range: 350 to 1,400. 46 of the 56 parts have a shop price.
Barrels
Barrels change no weapon or character stat (41 of 41). The thing that matters is their muzzle slot. 37 barrels carry one, and that slot decides which muzzle devices fit. 34 barrels fit one weapon, 2 fit two, and 5 fit none.
No shop prices are listed for barrels. Pick the barrel for the weapon and the muzzle device you want.
Stocks
No stock changes a stat. The 37 stocks are a choice of fit only. 9 of them fit no weapon, and 20 have no display name. No shop prices are listed for stocks. Season 2 added 6 stocks.
Grips and foregrips
Pistol grips change nothing, with one exception. The unnamed M4 grip sets vertical and horizontal recoil to 0. The game sets that value, and it is not checked against how the weapon feels in play.
Foregrips change vertical and horizontal recoil, spread, aim time, equip speed and sway. The ranges are x0.7 to x1.05 for vertical recoil, x0.71 to x0.97 for horizontal recoil, x0.76 to x0.91 for spread, x0.83 to x1.15 for aim time and x0.92 to x1.15 for equip speed.
- Least vertical recoil: the CQR Tactical Front Rail Grip, x0.7 (950). It adds aim time x1.15. The TDG Vertical Foregrip also has x0.7, but it has no shop price. The RVG Vertical Foregrip is x0.75 (720).
- Least horizontal recoil and spread: the Shift Foregrip, horizontal recoil x0.71 and spread x0.76 (840). Its equip speed is x1.15, the highest in the foregrip list.
- Quickest aim: the 45 degree Angled Foregrip, aim time x0.83 (640). It raises vertical recoil to x1.05.
- Price range: 540 to 950. 7 of the 32 grips have a shop price.
Bipods
Only the Grip Pod changes weapon numbers. It sets vertical recoil x0.88, horizontal recoil x0.9, spread x0.94, aim time x1.1 and equip speed x0.98, and it lowers sway. No shop price is listed for it.
The other eight bipods change no weapon numbers. While mounted, each one limits how far the weapon can turn. The pitch limit runs from 15 to 50, the yaw limit from 35 to 55, and the most the aim can change is 45 in yaw and 45 in pitch. The game gives these as angles, and the degree unit is inferred from the field names.
The spread page lists a spread multiplier of x0.45 for a mounted bipod and x1.15 for an unfolded one. The bipods page does not give those values for any one part, so this guide does not tie them to a bipod.
- Price range: 810 to 1,480. 8 of the 9 bipods have a shop price. The SKS Bipod (810) is the cheapest and the M14 Bipod (1,480) the most expensive.
Sights and optics
Sights do not change recoil or spread. They change zoom, aim time, zeroing range and sway. Aim time runs from x0.85 to x1.2 across 26 parts, and zoom runs from 1.2 to 6. A zoom value is a magnification factor. The sights page reads it from the game’s code and has not checked it on screen.
- Quickest aim: the Kobra Reflex (520) gives aim time x0.85 and zoom 1.2. The Four Reticle Reflex (580) also gives x0.85. The Compact T-2 Red Dot (340) gives x0.9.
- Highest zoom with a price: the 6x Precision Rifle Scope (680) gives zoom 6, aim time x1.15, a maximum zeroing range of 600, sway stabilisation time set to 1.6, rotation stabilisation x1.8 and translation stabilisation x1.4. The 6-10x Scope MOA and 6-10x Scope MRAD also reach zoom 6, with a maximum zeroing range of 1,000, but they have no shop price.
- Mid zoom: the 3x Tactical Prism Scope (740) gives zoom 3 and aim time x1.1. The Spitfire 3X (790) gives zoom 3, aim time x1.1 and sway stabilisation x1.35.
- Red dots: most give zoom 1.2. The Compact P-1 Red Dot (480) gives zoom 1.2 with no aim change.
- Price range: 200 to 1,800. 19 of the 29 sights have a shop price. The Frontier 2.5x-10x Precision Scope (1,800) is the most expensive.
- The game gives no unit for zeroing range. The game code treats it as metres (derived), and a weapon starts at the sight’s minimum.
Handguards
No handguard changes a stat. The 25 parts are a choice of fit only. 19 of them fit no weapon.
Five handguards add an underbarrel slot, where a foregrip or bipod can go. Only one of the five lists a weapon it fits: the Unnamed MGL-40 handguard, for the MGL-40. The LVOA, M4 and MP5 handguards fit no weapon. No shop prices are listed for handguards.
On a budget
These are the cheapest parts that change a number you can use. Prices come from the shop.
| Part | Price | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| STANAG 20 RND Magazine | 10 | Aim time x0.85, vertical recoil x0.84, horizontal recoil x0.85, equip speed x1.16, aim sway x0.78. Fits the A-91, Bushmaster M17S, KH-2002, M249 SAW, M4 and T-21. |
| Compact T-2 Red Dot | 340 | Zoom 1.2, aim time x0.9. |
| Hexagon Brake | 350 | Horizontal recoil x0.78, vertical recoil x0.99, spread x0.96, aim time x1.05. Fits the Galil, M4 and T-21. |
| Kobra Reflex | 520 | Zoom 1.2, aim time x0.85. |
| Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip | 540 | Vertical recoil x0.82, horizontal recoil x0.93, spread x0.84, aim time x1.02, vertical aim sway x0.7. |
| Improved Cylinder Choke | 540 | Tighter M500 pellet pattern, aim time x1.02. |
The cheapest bipod, the SKS Bipod (810), changes no weapon numbers. The stocks, barrels and handguards have no shop prices, so they are chosen by the weapon they fit.
Season 2 price changes
The Season 2 patch notes say that most muzzle devices and foregrips got cheaper. The attachment pages list these changes.
- Muzzle devices: 23 parts changed price. 22 went down. The Birdcage Flash Hider went from 900 to 600, and the BMR-308 Flash Hider went from 1,280 to 930. The Full Choke went from 1,400 to 1,150.
- AR Multi-Caliber Suppressor: it went from 400 to 1,200, a rise of 800. It is the only muzzle device that went up. Its stats are vertical recoil x0.88, horizontal recoil x0.93, spread x0.9 and aim time x1.1.
- Foregrips: 5 parts changed price, and all of them went down. The Shift Foregrip went from 1,150 to 840, the CQR Tactical Front Rail Grip from 1,100 to 950, the RVG Vertical Foregrip from 770 to 720, the Mini Angled Foregrip from 720 to 680, and the 45 degree Angled Foregrip from 680 to 640.
- Bipods: the SKS Bipod went from 800 to 810.
The Season 2 notes list no price changes for magazines, stocks, barrels, handguards or sights.
